Week 1

Welcome to our writing class!  The first assignment is to find your name on the roster below and click on it.  After you open the page, choose "edit".  You will be able to type in an introduction.  We will add pictures later. Make sure to click on "save" at the bottom when you finish.  Please write 5-10 sentences. 

Listening Log Instructions

Homework due January 26

• complete your introduction on the wiki if you haven't already
• p. 6 #2 and p. 7 #4
• Bring a picture of someone (family member or from a magazine) and be ready to tell us 6-8 things about him/her (using 3rd person singular)

            He plays tennis.

            He studies hard.

            He is in third grade.

• p. 44 #1- write 6-8 sentences about the person including what his or her innovation is.  Example: Steve Jobs (Apple), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook)

Here are some final tips as you prepare for your speech:

• Practice, practice, practice with a timer
• If you bring a picture, it needs to be big enough for us to see it
• If you use notes, don’t read them- make sure you look at your classmates
• Loud, clear, strong voice
• Ask Laura about any pronunciation you aren’t sure about
